Overview

At the end of 2023, I was invited to work on Gambeth, a fully decentralized web application built on blockchain technology. It allows any user to participate in or create their own mutual bets (also known as prediction markets).

The founders had a well-defined brand identity, but they were not satisfied with the existing web design, which needed to be elevated to attract potential investors.

What was missing?

As a UI Designer, I identified two main pain points: first, the existing design did not reflect the aesthetic the clients were aiming for—one that resonates with a younger audience immersed in tech, crypto, and investment culture, and deeply connected to current trends. Second, the interface felt outdated, lacking modernity and visual appeal.

Decisions were made

For the redesign, I kept the established typography and color palette, but developed a Design System that better aligned the brand’s identity with the clients’ goals and the needs of end users. This provided a more cohesive and scalable foundation for future product growth.

Conclusions

This project was an opportunity to take a strong existing brand and translate it into a digital product that feels modern, functional, and aligned with its audience. Collaborating so closely with both the design and development teams—and being part of a fast-moving startup environment—allowed me to grow not only as a UI designer but also as a problem-solver and communicator.

The most valuable takeaway was understanding how to maintain consistency and quality while adapting to ongoing changes and feedback. Building a solid design system from predefined brand elements taught me how to balance creative direction with technical and strategic constraints.

Overall, I’m proud of the result: a user-centered, visually cohesive platform that not only supports Gambeth’s growth, but also reflects its bold vision in a rapidly evolving space.

How it continued

Once the design was approved, I moved forward with building out the rest of the platform alongside the team. This included key screens such as the form for creating a new market, the view of an existing market, the user profile, the browse markets page, and all mobile-responsive layouts.

After finalizing the entire design system and user interface, we proceeded with the web and mobile development, resulting in a fully functional product ready to be presented to investors and launched to market.

Collaboration

Throughout the process, I worked closely with a small but dedicated team: another designer, a front-end developer, and the founder who also led the back-end development. I was also in constant communication with a second founder, who managed the administrative side of the project.

We collaborated closely at every stage, which was key to maintaining visual and functional consistency across the entire platform. At the same time, the founders often introduced changes on the fly, which we quickly adapted into the design to stay aligned with evolving needs and goals.

Naturally, this came with its own set of challenges. Rather than starting from a blank slate, I had to work within the constraints of existing brand elements—like the color palette and typography—while still crafting a fresh, modern, and engaging interface.
