Overview

At the beginning of 2022, I joined NTB Solutions, a software development company specializing in technological solutions for businesses across various sectors, primarily Healthcare and Biometrics. At that time, there was no UX/UI team, so my teammate and I established the company’s first user-centered design department.

For my first project at NTB Solutions, I was assigned to redesign the APROSS affiliate app. APROSS is the Provincial Health Insurance Administration of Córdoba, Argentina. Its mobile app is crucial for users to manage their healthcare services, but it suffered from usability and accessibility issues that negatively impacted the user experience. This project focused on improving functionality, navigation, and overall user satisfaction.

Understanding Users

To gain deeper insights into user needs, I conducted in-depth interviews, semi-structured surveys, and analyzed available data. Based on this research, I defined the user personas.

Key Pain Points

Through various UX research techniques —including evaluating insights from interviews and surveys, conducting a heuristic evaluation of the existing app, and mapping the user journey— I identified the main pain points:

These issues led to frustration and made it difficult for users to access essential healthcare services.

Possible Solutions

With these findings, I proposed potential solutions, which we assessed with the development team using a feasibility, viability, and desirability matrix.

Based on this analysis, we defined a minimum viable product (MVP) that aimed to:

✅ Improve navigation and information architecture

✅ Optimize the visual design for clarity and modernity

✅ Integrate accessibility features

✅ Add an appointment booking system

Testing (and Iterating!)

After designing and prototyping low- and mid-fidelity wireframes, I conducted usability tests with five real users. Their feedback validated the redesign and led to further refinements. I then developed the UI kit and high-fidelity wireframes.

Conclusions

The redesign significantly improved usability, reducing task completion time and increasing overall user satisfaction.
